Beloved Family, Friends, and +1s,

Finally. Today is the day that you learn a little something about this mysterious adventure that we’ve been cooking up.

Now, you will not learn everything. Like we told you when we invited you, expect to show up in London still not knowing exactly what will happen. But, at long last, we do have some concrete details to share:

  • One week before our event, each of you, individually, will receive a WhatsApp message containing two pieces of information: a location somewhere in the city of London and a time.

  • Your job is to be at that location at that time - not a minute earlier, not a minute later. We suggest making a plan to get there ahead of time (Google Maps / Citymapper is your friend) – and leaving with 15 min to spare, just to be safe.

  • Your adventure starts there and then. While you’re on your adventure, there are a variety of things that you might experience: art that stirs the soul, cool local shops, top notch food and drink, fascinating pieces of London history, and/or something that is meaningful to us as a couple or just makes us laugh.

  • Additional things to note:

    • You’ve been added into a WhatsApp community (think of it as a big group text) where you will receive details about our adventure. That’s also where you’ll be able to contact “The Architect,” who can help you if you run into any problems.

    • Have lunch before you set out on Saturday, but don’t worry, no adventure would be complete without a good dinner. There will also be a good number of bathrooms (you know who you are).

    • You will not have a chance to go back to your hotel until the evening.

    • If you’re coming with someone, you may be assigned to different locations and/or different starting times. Please please, go to the location to which you are assigned. Trust us, we are taking care of you. We’ve calibrated this adventure carefully and any deviations will throw off our painstaking logistics. If you’re coming with any children, they will be assigned to go with a specific parent or guardian.

    • There will be a party with everyone and it will be fun.

Oh! And one more thing…we wanted to help clarify the dress code for Saturday. We know the guidance on our website is, :gulp:, sorta stressful. We thought it might be helpful if we told you what we ourselves would wear.

Mike: “The challenge is to be comfortable exploring the city on a summer afternoon, but still show up looking sharp at the end of the day. If I wanted to keep it simple, I’d go with slacks, a button down, and dress shoes that I knew I could walk/stand in all day. Hard to go wrong. If I enjoyed dressing up and had a nice summer suit in my closet in linen or another lightweight breathable fabric, I’d go with that. Or, if I were a snappy dresser who knew how to make more casual clothing look elevated, I might wear nice jeans, casual but stylish shoes, and a sharp casual jacket. The only thing I wouldn’t do is wear something too hot/uncomfortable to move around in or show up in a ratty t-shirt, exercise gear, that kind of thing.”

Maya: “I would let ChatGPT dress me. Based on the description of our event and my personality, it suggested: (1) a jumpsuit with comfortable block-heeled sandals or fashion sneakers, statement earrings, and a cross-body bag; (2) A casual chic midi or knee-length sundress or shirt dress with stylish flat sandals and light jacket; and, (3) Stylish separates: flowy trousers or culottes with a blouse or cool tank top and chunky heel. I think that these are all great options! If I really wanted to dress nicely in the evening, I would also consider bringing a change of clothes in my purse, since I’m comfortable changing in a bathroom!”

If you’re struggling with whether your outfit is appropriate, just run it by us! We’ll give you a thumbs up or down.

Love,

Maya & Mike
